Prayer as Growth

Have you ever made a new friend and been so excited by the conversation and getting to know them better that the eagerness to talk to them could be described as hunger? Do you hunger to know God better like that? Talking to God in prayer is abiding in His presence. The presence of God feeds our souls.

"Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord ." Deuteronomy 8:3 NLT

This is the elemental truth of our existence. We are made to live in relationship with God. Communion with God is the fuel we are meant to run on. Everything else is a poor substitute that will leave us empty, hungry, and wasting away from the inside out.

As we go to God in prayer this week, open up to Him. Let the conversation fill you up, plant your roots at His feet, drink in His love, and grow in His knowledge & wisdom.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I surrender to You. Help me grow in my knowledge of You and Your Goodness. Help me strengthen my relationship with You. I pray all this in Your Son's Mighty Name. AMEN.
