God wants a family of believers that knows His heart. The heart of God is the heart of a healer. God eagerly seeks to restore His children, but patiently waits for us to ask Him for the restoration. When we spend time away from God, it is inevitable that our hearts become disordered and our focus wanders to things of the world the longer we are away. When something comes between you and your purpose for being, can you sustain joy and a spirit at peace with itself? As more things in our hearts become misaligned, our spirits can grow hardened toward the truth. When we recognize what is going on and we are brought to our knees in prayer, we find that things don't have to stay lost or broken; we don't have to stay lost and broken. Praise be to God that He is faithful to welcome us back when we have strayed or become distracted.
If you feel yourself drifting, like the psalmist ask God to restore to you the joy of His healing presence and a willing spirit in your heart.
Prayer
Lord, help my unbelief and restore my joy. I want to seek a deeper relationship with You. Forgive me for all the ways I have let myself drift from You. In Your Son's Holy Name. AMEN.
