Thanksgiving is articulated, heartfelt gratitude. It is defined as 'the expression of gratitude, especially to God.'
When we talk about the holiday, Thanksgiving, we tend to focus on how we are going to gather and entertain, and often forget about giving thanks for what we have and who we are surrounded by. This concept can also be lost on us daily when it comes to God. We can forget to give thanks for all He has done for us, getting lost in the here and now of what is going on or the when and how of what is going to happen. When we let go and let God, we can enjoy what is already going on around us and give thanks to Him for it all.
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 4:2 ESV
Prayer
Lord, thank You! Thank You for Your blessing and provision. Thank You for all You have done and will do. I know that sometimes I get caught up with what is going on and forget to give You the thanks You deserve, and for that I am sorry. Thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sins and thank You for calling me Yours. I pray all this in Your Son's Holy Name. AMEN.
