Prayer as the Good Confession

When we pray to God, we agree with God about who He says we are and who He says He is. In prayer, we admit that God alone is God. That we need Him. We confess that He made us, that He can change our situation, and change us. When we acknowledge God as God we testify that everything that Christ said about Himself is true. This is the good confession, that Jesus Christ is Lord! That He "alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see."

As you go to God with your prayers this week, think about who God is as well as what He can do for you. Confess His righteousness, His holiness, His faithfulness, and then confess your need of Him.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:12‭-‬16 ESV

Prayer

Heavenly Father. As we enter the Advent season, we thank You for the gift You sent to us. It was prophesied ahead of His arrival, of the greatest He is. He truly is the King of Kings and Prince of Peace. I am grateful that through Him alone we are connected to You. Thank you for calling us Yours. AMEN.
