Prayer as Worship

When we come before God in prayer, we come before our maker, our redeemer, the only person who will ever love us completely and unconditionally. We also come before the God who knows trillions of stars by name and every hair on our head. In God, we find perfect love, perfect truth, perfect justice, perfect mercy, perfect power, and perfect peace. Everything that is good finds its expression in God. When you realize just how magnificent God is and how much He loves you, it is natural to respond with gratitude, awe, and reverence.  Worship is an outpouring of all these feelings and more.

As we speak to God in prayer this week, let's stop and take a minute not only to thank God for what He has done for us, but let's think about His faithfulness, His worthiness, His holiness. If we think about His goodness it won't be long before we find ourselves praising and worshipping God during our prayer time.

Follow this example given by the psalmist in your prayers this week and see how easily worship pours out of a grateful heart when it recognizes the love of a perfect God.

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord ; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!  For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.  In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.  The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord , our Maker! Psalm 95:1‭-‬6 ESV

Prayer

Lord, we come before You to worship you with praise for all You have done and will do for us. May we praise You the way Miriam praised You when You delivered Israel from the hands of the Egyptians at the Red Sea. And like David when he danced before You with all his might. You are worthy of all praise and worship! AMEN.
